Computer foot analysis will be conducted as required to provide more detailed evidence of the foot and lower limb in motion. This also provides comparison of changes in motion over time.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

At EastWest Podiatry treatments are individualised and may include one or more of the following

Rehabilitation Exercises and Strapping

Specific lower limb exercises and or strapping can help reduce forces on the foot, help lower limb biomechanics and reduce pain.

Footwear Prescription and Modification

Incorrect or poorly fitting footwear can have a negative effect on foot and body biomechanics, possibly contributing to injury and pain. Footwear is an important part of treatments, on occasions the podiatrist will order alterations or customisation of footwear. This may be due to conditions like limb length difference, Osteoarthritis, Stroke or complications from Diabetes.

Joint Mobilization

Gentle mobilization to foot and ankle joints that have restriction due to soft tissue tightness can help improve foot function and reduce pain.

Running Technique Retraining

At EastWest your Podiatrist is educated and up to date on issues surrounding the science of running. From a Biomechanical perspective we can assist you with a program to make small changes. It should be understood that poor running biomechanics is identified as a contributing factor in as many of 80% of soft tissue injuries in runners.

Orthotic Therapy

Orthotics are devices that are fitted to your shoes to influence the forces generated from the body through the foot to the ground (via the shoe) and the forces from the ground through the foot to the body (via the shoe). In general Orthotics will improve stability of the foot in the shoe (therefore on the ground) and have subtle but important effects on the motion of the foot during gait. At EastWest we use the latest technology of computer assisted design and manufacturing of orthotics which come with a unique life time manufacturer’s guarantee. Other orthotic types are available at EastWest and your Podiatrist will advise you on the most appropriate choice for you.
